Viability information may be submitted by developers to justify the quantity of development proposed, or reduced affordable housing provision, particularly when it varies from Bristol policy standards.

Bristol City Council now includes viability reports as part of the supporting documentation for planning applications.

In 2012, the government relaxed the requirement for affordable housing provision and allowed renegotiation in order to ‘kick start’ construction.

This provision was removed on 30th April 2016.
