A programme of actions that was agreed at the United Nations Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Endorsed by the Government, every Council had to produce a Local Agenda 21 (LA21)strategy by the end of 2000.
The LA21 strategy is a Local Action Plan, which shows how the Council will work with its communities towards environmentally friendly sustainable development.
This early work led to the establishment of the LA21 community group and a number of sustainable projects in Bristol.
