Bristol Central Area Action Plan BCAAP

posted 5 Feb 2012 05:31 by Alison Bromilow

The next round of consultation will start on February 24th.

A 'launch event' is planned for the end of March.

The BCAAP will be accompanied by the Public Realm and Movement Framework

This is a strategic document which informs the decisions about the BCAAP and brings transport strategy into the planning policy. This will tie the Local Transport Plan into the Bristol Development Framework.

Site Allocations and Development Management DPD

posted 5 Feb 2012 05:21 by Alison Bromilow

The next round of consultation on the Site Allocations and Development Management policies will be launched on March 24th.

A meeting will be held probably at the end of April to discuss the proposed
  • Site Allocations (sites where development, mostly residential, is proposed) and
  • Designations (areas where particular uses are to be protected).

There are now 90 sites included in the Site Allocations part of the plan (instead of 119 at the previous consultation stage).

Why are there fewer sites?

A number of green space sites have now been omitted from the Site Allocations proposals following the Area Green Space Plan consultation, and the decision to devolve decisions on possible site disposals to Neighbourhood Partnerships.

Some other sites have been omitted from the sites allocated for residential development in response to feedback from the previous consultation or from changing circumstances eg the need for an increased number of schools in Bristol, due to the expanding population.

Other sites have not been taken forward because they were found to be unsuitable.

What other changes are there?

A number of options for types of development were consulted on at the previous stage.

In response to feedback, some sites may now have different development types or mixtures of types proposed eg retail, office, residential, employment

Development Management Principles.

A series of meetings to look in detail at the proposed DM principles will also be held during the consultation period.

What happens to the Green Space sites that are not going to be allocated for development?

These sites will be designated as green space on the Site Allocation map, which will be the Local Plan.
