St John's Community
Association
St John’s Community Association
is a non-profit making community body which aims to improve and develop the
environment and facilities in and around the neighbourhood and in particular
St John’s Churchyard, Bedminster, Bristol (a public park in the vicinity
of a landfill site), improve safety, accessibility and encourage more local
residents to care for, improve and use the park.
Objectives:
- Promote the interests of local
people
- Provide a channel of communication
for local people
- Address local issues
- To encourage and develop support
for the park and the neighbourhood amongst local residents, businesses and
organisations
- Organise local activities and
help promote improvements to the areas
- To improve and develop the park
as a valuable open space and wildlife area, accessible to all.
- To encourage arts and events
- To improve maintenance in the
park, including park furniture
- To maintain and improve services
in the park
- To encourage responsible use
of the park, including by dog owners
- To improve publicity of events,
issues and activities through notice boards and other means
- To develop a constructive relationship
with Bristol City Council and other agencies to improve the neighbourhood
and park.
- To make sure that the park and
its neighbourhood is and feels safe by, for example, working closely with
the police as a Neighbourhood and Park Watch.
