Redland and Cotham Amenities Society (RCAS)

We are a local amenities society, with a membership of 1450, which aims to protect and enhance the area, its architecture, trees, parks and amenities for present and future residents.

We have raised funds for and helped design the play areas in Redland Green and Cotham Gardens. We also have funded information boards and tree planting. We monitor maintenance of the parks and other green spaces in our area.

We organise the annual May Fair on Redland Green; we also organise garden talks and guided walks in the area, as well as an Open Gardens event.

The society comments on planning, tree works and licensing applications. We make annual 'Gold Star' awards for developments which have enhanced the area. We have written and published 4 local history books, 'Cotham Walks' and a book on 'Our Garden Trees, conservation and new planting.'
