Bristol NPN is a voluntary, self-help network of neighbourhood based, resident Ied groups within Bristol who are or want to be involved in the planning of their area either through the production of a local plan and/or making comments upon planning applications.
Affiliated membership is also open to city-wide voluntary groups who support community involvement in planning decisions and who also have an interest in the planning and development of the city.
The aim of the Network is to encourage the exchange of information, experience and skills that enable local neighbourhood groups and the wider community to be more effectively involved in influencing planning decisions that are made about the development of the city. When a number of members wish it, the Network can also collect and represent opinion on major issues.
The Network operates through email newsletters and correspondence and occasional general meetings.
To qualify as Full members of the Network, local neighbourhood groups and city-wide groups must be able to show that they are open to all residents in their area; that they advertise their meetings locally, for example by notice board, newsletter or e-mail; that they seek to represent a consensus of views and that representatives are elected by a general meeting held at least once each year.
